What a game, what a performance. That is what United are all about. 2-1 down at half time and they have the guts and skill to come back and actually win the game.
This time it was Scholes and Rooney. That pass from Scholes for the equaliser was both sublime and ridiculous. How can you do that in a Champions League Semi-final? Rooney did great to finish it off, but it was the vision and genius of Scholes that made the goal. And in the final seconds of the game, Giggs stole the ball of a Milan player and ran with purpose, did a good pass to Rooney and his first time finish was far too good for Dida. The key moment, however, was the injury to Gattuso. Without him in midfield, United were able to take command and do the fightback.
Downsides? There were a couple. Firstly, Evra got booked and will miss the return game. Second, comical defending for Kaka’s 2nd goal. I know we were without 3 of the 4 first choice defenders, but there was no reason to replace them with the Keystone Kops?
We’ll go to the San Siro and play the same way. Our entire first team defence might be missing, but it won’t matter, because however many we concede all we have to do is score one more.
Don’t tell me Chelsea can match that. They might make the final. But it will be at the expense of entertainment. I confidently predict a 0-0 draw tomorrow night and the entertainment factor will come from the manager’s mouth.
