20Legend retires

A true hero and legend retired from Manchester United today. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided to call it a day after continuing problems with his knee injury. As Fergie put it

“Ole has achieved everything a player could ever wish to achieve. He has been a great servant to the Club and has always remained a model professional in his responsibility as a player, in his demeanour and his manners have always been exemplary.

As the commentary put it Solskjaer ” has won it”, the it being the European Cup with that late late goal in 1999, but he was a fan’s player too, a servant of the club and fans rather than a player at the club for the money.

Ole we salute you :-

Ole gets a bigger applause when he is warming up at the side of the pitch than most do all through the gate. Happy retirement Ole.

How true that is. I am so grateful that I got a chance to see Ole play even in a friendly game live in person. It was awesome to see him on TV and he always gave it every thing he had when he got out there on the pitch. One hopes that he will stay on, coach, and impart the wisdom and the class that he showed to the generations coming up as well as his playing ability and strategies. Truly one of the best players ever. I can’t wait to see the Testimonial game for him (and you can just bet there will be one!).

So many Ole goals to remember it’s a blur. I’m sure he once put 4 past Everton at Old Trafford, beating Liverpool in the Cup when he came on as sub and we all sang the Ole songs going out of the ground.

He’s not only a great player and teammate, but a great person as well. A true United legend.

Thanks for all the comments here. The comments and blogs across the internet show just just how liked he is and here’s to Ole the Coach (future United manager? perhaps not; too nice)
