Preview of Kiev clash

United have a 100% record in the Champions League and face a Kiev side at Old Trafford that they’ve already put 4 past. But as the Republic of Mancunia notes we had a 3 wins from 3 at this stage last stage as well and struggled to qualify. Like Scott, I believe that we’re much better placed this season and performing much better in the Champions League. I think we’ll qualify by winning this game. We’ll have to cope without Gary Neville who has picked up a calf injury on his comeback trail.

Owen Hargreaves, also dogged by injury has yet to play in the Champions League for United should start, and I think Fergie will rest Anderson and Giggs and bring in Carrick and Nani. Anderson, card waving aside, has been fantastic since coming on against Wigan but Fergie likes to rest his younger players after “burning out” his young stars at Aberdeen.

Liverpool got a big win in the Champions League going one better than Arsenal by winning 8-0.  However, it just highlights how poorly they played in the Besiktas game they lost 2-0.  They still need to win both their remaining games to qualify and if they don’t we can laugh at them lots and lots for winning 8-0 and still going out.

Looks like Neville might be ready for the nackers yard, unfortunately.
