Fulham preview and other bits and bobs
So, the weekend is over, but United v Fulham is still a day away. Never did like Monday night football (and in the days before Sky+ I had to often rely on the video recorder to work to actually see the game).
Important bits first, United have drawn Villa away in the FA Cup again. See some video highlights of recent FA Cup meetings at Republic of Mancunia. Kaka beat Ronaldo to World Player of the Year in one of those meaningless personal award things. It isn’t a individual sport.
Onto the Fulham match up then. Last season, we won this fixture 5-1 and it really set our season going nicely. It looks like Wayne Rooney is back, and much needed after our lose to Bolton last week. All our main rivals have already won, and w’ve actually dropped to 4th, so we really cannot slip up. I’d expect the ex-Fulham man Saha to drop back to the bench as he hasn’t done the business which is disappointing because he had a real chance to make himself undroppable. Another old boy, David Healy returns (if played) and I’m hoping his international form doesn’t finally make it into the Premiership tomorrow. You can read an interview with Fulham blogger Rob Griffin where he discusses how the Fulham defenders seem to switch off at around the 80 minute mark amongst other things. If you look at this table on Football365, you see Fulham are 3rd in the first half table (if you got 3 points for leading at half time etc) one place above us. So, it is the 2nd half that is really letting them down at the moment.
Some more non Fulham related stuff, and 20LEgend has been made Sir Ole [via Spectre]. Has Gary Neville played his last ever game, or about to return to first team duty against Roma? The news that Neville dropped out of a reserve game to train with the first team, was met by Sun-esque speculation that he’ll never play again, only for further reports saying that he’ll be playing in the now meaningless Roma match (don’t go there!) .
And finally, Carlos Queiroz has stated that he wants to be at United for at least 10 years and this means he wants to be manager and wouldn’t put himself forward to the Portugal national job either. Interesting.
My personal jury on Queiroz is still out. What do you think?

I agree with you about Carlos Queiroz, he seems a bit nothing. It seems ever so fashionable to have a continental manager to match all the players these days it may just happen. Lets hope tonights game is better than the 1-0 win we saw at OT a couple of seasons ago.

Was that the FA Cup game where Ryan Giggs ended up at left back ? I seem to remember that being 2-1. Or did we go to another Fulham match recently ?
